THE PROMISE
The SEEK Safely Promise is a clear set of ethical principles we invite self-help providers to embrace.
For providers, it’s a declaration of your commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of those you serve—physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. In an industry without formal regulation, it offers a simple, practical framework to guide your business practices and uphold the highest standards of integrity.
For consumers, it functions like a personal “bill of rights”—a set of commitments you have the right to expect from your self-help provider, and a standard by which you can hold them accountable.
While SEEK Safely does not vet or certify providers, the Promise serves as a roadmap for ethical practice in a largely unregulated field. Ultimately, it is up to providers to commit to these standards—and for consumers to educate themselves about what safe, ethical self-help should look like.

SIGN THE PROMISE
SAFE PRACTITIONER WORKSHOP
Put the promise on-the-court in this 8 part workshop you will explore how to be seen and known as a safe practitioner.
Who is this Workshop For?
Coaches, consultants, speakers, trainers, wellness practitioners ... ANYONE who has some wisdom to share, whether it be a program, product or service, AND want to be known as a person who provides a safe environment and someone who operates with ethical business practices.
It could be that you already have an offering OR you may be wanting to create something BUT you're not sure how to go about it without sliding down the Culty slope!
Legislative Advocacy
Our legislative advocacy work is focused on passing a bill that puts consumer safety first in the self-help industry. The proposed law requires practitioners to provide a clear “bill of rights” to their clients, disclose any potential emotional or physical risks, share their risk management and emergency response plans, and avoid misleading marketing.
These commonsense protections will help ensure that people investing their time, money, and trust in self-help programs have the information they need to make safe, informed choices—while holding providers to higher standards of transparency and care.
The Bill we are Sponsoring in New York
Here are some of the highlights of this bill as it stands now:
Our Senate sponsor, James Skoufis, summed it up nicely in his message for our 2021 Kirby Jam. See the video below
We believe these steps will go a long way to making self-help events safer for consumers and giving consumers more information about the services in which they are investing their time, money, and energy.
Read the bill below AND if you’re a NY State resident please click “aye” to support it.
Watch our interview with the bill’s original Assembly sponsor, Sandy Galef, below, or our discussion about this effort from our Virtual Kirby Jam on December 4, 2020.
